New York City is a beautiful city that offers many options for runners who want gorgeous views while they get their miles in. Here are some of the best running routes in the city:
Hudson River Greenway. Running nearly 13 miles, the Hudson River Greenway is ideal for longer runs, as it follows the western edge of Manhattan with views of New Jersey, the Statue of Liberty, and the George Washington Bridge.
Central Park. Runners have many options in the park, including the 1.5-mile loop around Jackie Kennedy Onassis Reservoir or the 6.1-mile running loop, which offers more of a challenge with rolling hills.
Prospect Park. To get away from the skyscrapers, run in Prospect Park, which offers a three-mile loop with a few rolling hills. There is also a dog beach to provide some entertainment.
Roosevelt Island. If you’re feeling ambitious, cross the Queensboro Bridge to Roosevelt Island. There is a 3.8-mile running path that goes around the island’s perimeter and offers views of Manhattan’s skyscrapers, Queens, a stone lighthouse, and an abandoned smallpox hospital.
